Missing Teeth

Everyone has lost a tooth in their lifetime.  Most people lose their teeth when they are children and new “adult” teeth come in.  But what happens when an adult loses an “adult” tooth and there is no “senior” tooth to replace it?  It is now possible to restore that tooth by the use of a bridges or a dental implant.

Dental implants are exactly what they sound like: a titanium post inserted into your jaw bone and then covered with a porcelain crown that exactly matches the teeth around it.  Dental implants look almost indistinguishable from your natural teeth, and act just like your natural teeth, allowing you to eat, speak, brush and even floss them just like any other.

Dental bridges are a series of crowns and false teeth which are all connected.  The crowns hold the false teeth in place, making the bridge potentially more resilient than a partial denture, by creating a permanent fixture you can eat and speak with naturally.

Broken Teeth

The treatment for broken teeth today is much like fifty years ago, with the exception of improved materials.  Resin and gold have been replaced with porcelain crowns, which have two added benefits over the old materials: Porcelain has the same density as natural teeth, and will therefore feel and act like them, and porcelain can be colored to exactly match the look of your natural teeth.

Cavities or Lost Fillings

Most people develop a cavity at some point, but many of them do not realize a filling or onlay will become a permanent, visible feature in their mouth, particularly if it is made of gold or amalgam.  When a filling falls out or a new cavity threatens the integrity of your tooth, dentists don’t always give you the option of materials.  Porcelain inlays and onlays are tooth-colored fillings that match the color of your teeth and are virtually invisible in your mouth.  When you speak, laugh, or singe, what would otherwise be a bright flash of gold or silver inside your mouth appears as a healthy, natural tooth.
