Porcelain Fillings

Are porcelain fillings durable?
Yes. Today's porcelain fillings are custom made to fill your specific cavity.  The result is a restoration the both functions and looks exactly like your natural tooth.

What are the benefits of porcelain over metal fillings?
The primary benefit of porcelain fillings over traditional metal amalgam fillings is appearance. Metal fillings appear dark and dull, while porcelain fillings are visually identical to the natural tooth enamel.

In the past, porcelain fillings were weaker than amalgam, and were rarely used on any but the most visible front teeth. Today, however, with advances in the techniques and technologies, porcelain composite fillings can be used on every tooth.

Should I replace my amalgam fillings with tooth-colored fillings?
We do not recommend this as a default course of action, but if you are unhappy with the appearance of your amalgam fillings, we will be happy to replace them with natural looking tooth-colored porcelain.
