Endodontics - FAQ

In Chicago and surrounding areas

Why do I need a root canal?
A root canal might be necessary when the inner 'pulp' of your tooth has decayed deep into the root. With a root canal, your dentist can remove the decayed material and save your tooth.  Most of the time we will refer you to an excellent specialist.

Is it going to hurt?
Root canals are not entirely painless, but at Colonial Dental Group, your comfort is very important to us. We will discuss your comfort level with you and administer anesthetic to ensure that the procedure is as painless as possible.

How long will it take?
Most root canals are done in a single office visit and take approximately 45 minutes to one hour. However, there are many factors that may cause your procedure to be longer or shorter.

In most cases, you will need to have additional appointments the tooth restored after the root canal is successfully completed.
