Endodontics

In Chicago and surrounding areas

Chicago endodonticsEndodontics is a branch of dentistry devoted to treating the inside of the tooth. Beneath the outer layer of enamel and dentin (a hard substance directly beneath the enamel), teeth are made up of a complex combination of blood vessels, nerves, and connective tissue, called the pulp of the tooth. This inner section of the tooth is particularly prone to infection and decay, which can cause extensive pain and serious illness if left untreated.

This inner part of the tooth is necessary during the initial growth and development of the teeth, but once mature, the material can safely be removed with little risk to the tooth itself. The removal of this pulp material from the tooth and the roots is known as a root canal. This procedure is often necessary to prevent the permanent loss of the tooth.

If you're suffering from tooth pain, it is important that you see a dentist as soon as possible, to ensure that you don't lose a tooth unnecessarily. So call or email us today to schedule your appointment, and we'll schedule you as we can.
